Stylish Calendar of Events

Here’s what’s going down this week in and around the city. Take your pick of the D.C. area’s most fashionable offerings this month and next.

Lost Boys owner Kelly Muccio teams up with the D.C. United guys for the Winter 2009 look book, which features the designers found at the Georgetown men’s boutique: Band of Outsiders, Ernest Sewn, Nom de Guerre, Shipley and Halmos and Rogan. The guys will join Muccio at the boutique this Wednesday night, 8 p.m sharp to celebrate the unveiling of the look book. Not only will they be sporting their finest Lost Boys duds, but serving guests their own signature cocktail concoction as well. Yum. 1033 31st Street, NW. 202.333.0093

– Mid-City’s Third Thursday sales and specials are coming up. The shops along U Street and 14th Street offer shoppers steals and deals until 9 p.m. this coming Thursday. So, hop down to U St. and get 15 percent off your  NaNa purchase (already have my eye on this Dear Creatures top). Or head down a few steps to Lettie Gooch and check out Orion London and Feral Childe.  Oh and don’t forget Caramel for his and hers collections from vluxe, Panda Snack, Peel, Toggery and more. Turn the corner and hit up Redeem for its too-cool-for-school hipster gear for men and women featuring designers from New York (B. Son) to L.A. (Corpus) to New Zealand (Stolen Girlfriends Club) to South Korea (Kaylee Tankus). While your at it, wish owner Lori and her gang a happy third anniversary. Not done yet? Rue 14 awaits you across the street and upstairs. Brands for men and women like Paul and Joe Sister, Ever, and James denim are not to be missed.  Call 202.246.0343 for more information on participating shops.

– Urban Chic’s Georgetown, Bethesda, Baltimore, and the latest Annapolis locations will kick off holiday shopping with 10-25 percent off all regularly priced merchandise during next week’s Black Friday.  Of-the-moment designers featured  include Loeffler Randal, Thread Social, Diane Von Furstenburg. Then from Dec. 1-8, the four shops will partner with Women’s Housing Coalition for a holiday coat drive. Bring a “gently used” coat to any one of the stores and receive 20 percent off your purchase. Finally, the Bethesda location of Urban Chic will host a Kiki Beach accessories trunk show all day on Dec. 3. Guests can meet the designer, Catherine Koch (who also happens to own the joint), nibble on cupcakes, sip champagne and add something shiny and sparkly to their wardrobes for a cool 15 percent off. Visit http://www.urbanchiconline.com for locations.

– Old Town’s Hysteria boutique will host back-to-back trunk shows on Dec. 10 and 17. On Dec. 10, the contemporary Alexandria boutique welcomes MaddAlex’s feminine designs crafted from semi-precious gem stones.
